RDT was born out of the Coatham Memorial Hall Association (CMHA) which was established in 2006 as a multipurpose community led and driven organisation that served and supported local communities of both place and interest throughout its primary resource – namely Coatham Memorial Hall situated in the Coatham ward area of Redcar and Cleveland borough.

Frankie Wales a former boxer who  founded Redcar Amateur Boxing Club in 1999 to get youngsters off the streets and steer them away from drugs and crime took over the vandalised and disused  Coatham Memorial Hall in 2000 and, with local volunteers, set about turning it back into a much-loved community facility

>    A former butcher's shop on Redcar High Street
>    RDT took up a 2 year lease on the empty shop, to encourage local enterprise
>    Refurbished with the help of larger businesses (Greggs, PD Ports)
>    Offers prospective businesses low-cost start up facility to 'test trade' their   
>    Occupants have included jewellery makers, interior designers and spectacle frame vendors
